Savvy freshman sparks the 'Cats
WASHINGTON - Everyone heard Jay Wright's postgame pep talk at West Virginia. The Villanova players huddled around their coach on the court, eyes wide and ears open after a throttling in the Big East opener. No one, however, got the message louder than Scottie Reynolds. With a cheering section all his own in the upper deck of the Verizon Center, filled by the faithful of his nearby alma mater, Herndon (Va.) High School, Reynolds played with the kind of aggressiveness Wright needs and wants his point guard to play with. He dictated tempo, pushed the ball up the court and into the lane, adding three assists and four steals to his 16 points. And while it might not be fair, the reality is the rookie is the linchpin for this young Villanova team. As he goes, so go the Wildcats.
